LYMINGTON - 15 Minutes from Chewton Glen - A bustling, pretty market town, Lymington is a 15 minutes drive from the hotel. Enjoy a pleasant walk along the board Georgian high street and a trip down the cobbles to the town quay and numerous yacht havens, which provide the emphasis for the summer sailing season.

With a number of good restaurants and lively hostelries Lymington is a good casual evening venue. The St. Barbe Museum in the New Street is definitely worth a visit for the extensive information it provides on the local area and attractions. Saturday is Market Day and during the week the antique shops provide shopping interest.

On your return journey to the hotel, do not fail to visit The Chequers public house on Ridgeway Lane. Tucked quietly out of the way near salt marshes you can experience good food and hospitality and enjoy a walk along the marshes to the Solent before returning to the comforts of Chewton Glen.

MILFORD-ON-SEA & KEYHAVEN - 15 Minutes from Chewton Glen - Milford-on-Sea and Keyhaven enjoys stunning views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Frequent cliff top car parks afford good vantage points and the cliff top paths and beach walks are a pleasant way to spend the afternoon. Afternoon tea can be had at Westover Hall, recently refurbished and giving superb views to the Needles Light and beyond. For the more adventurous take the walk along the famous Hurst Castle Spit to the fortifications which date back to the 16th century when Henry VIII used stones from the newly demolished Beaulieu Abbey to create the castle guard against the French and Spanish invasion. The Gun Inn, at Keyhaven is a great place to rewind afterwards.

CHRISTCHURCH - 15 minutes from Chewton Glen - A morning or afternoon can be enjoyed on the picturesque riverside walk or investigating the rich and varied history of the 900 year old 'Christchurch Priory.' A good place to for lunch would be Splinters Restaurant or Bistro on the Bridge.

THE DORSET COASTLINE - 30 minutes from Chewton Glen - For the more adventurous full day excursions drive to the Sandbanks Ferry which crosses the narrow Poole Harbor, the second largest natural harbor in the world. From the far side the pretty village of Studland is a few minutes away and provides and ideal place to park before a gentle stroll out to Old Harry Rocks and the wonderful views of Dorset Coast. Amble back to the Banks Inn for lunch before continuing on to stunning Corfe Castle, perhaps the most impressive ruin in England, which completely dominates the town.
