Horse Riding in The New Forest

The natural and most exciting way to see the New Forest is on horseback. The New Forest pony is one of the UK's recognised breeds of mountain and moorland ponies and noted for its intelligence, strength and "willing-to-please" temperament. Of all the native British pony breeds, New Foresters are the least afraid of man.

There are a number of local stables, and riding can be arranged for all standards. Many of our guests use the Burley Manor Riding Stables for their Horse Riding holiday.

To enable you to enjoy your horse riding whilst at Chewton Glen we have composed some points to consider:

Bookings:

Our Reservations team can make your reservation with the Stables, however the stables need to know personal details like height and weight and also your horse riding experience so they can match the right horse for you. As such you may prefer to make arrangements directly with the stables.

Over 7 years - New Forest Rides - £48.00 for two hours

Beginners Lesson (In the riding school) - £15.50 per hour

Arriving for your lesson:

The stables normally recommend that you are at the stables fifteen minutes before your start time. Please check with reception for directions and estimated driving times from the hotel.

Equipment Hire and Clothing: 

Equipment is supplied via the stables. Horse riding clothing is not required, but flat shoes or boots are essential.

Payment and Cancellation Policy:

Payment is made directly with the stables and credit cards are accepted. Advance booking is required. The stables require 24 hours notice of cancellation. If cancelling within the 24 hours and the stables are unable to resell the appointment then the full amount of the lesson will be charged.
