Join Chewton Glen’s Wine Director Francesco Gabriele for a Food & Wine Matching class with a difference, a must for foodies who love wine.
Let’s be honest most Food & Wine Matching classes focus more on the wine than the food with in-depth discussion about the wine style, the type of soil, which bank of the river the grapes were grown on, who made it… the list goes on. Our Wine Director, Francesco Gabriele will be looking at food and wine as equal partners. Yes, he will discuss styles of wine but more focus is placed on how the wine interacts with the food and why certain combinations are a match made in heaven and why others do both the wine and food an injustice.
Initially you will be taken through how food affects your palate using a relatively neutral white wine and tasting it against standalone ingredients like chocolate, lemon, basil and butter. Then you will be served a variety of small dishes each matched to a wine to highlight their interaction often with surprising results.

Arrive – 2.00pm for refreshments, meet and greet with Francesco and a run through of the afternoon.
Finish – 4.30pm, take home a Kitchen apron and supporting wine notes.
