Caring for a place we call home
Sustainability
Caring for the place we call home Chewton Glen sits within 130 acres of woodland, gardens and parkland, on the edge of the New Forest and close to the sea. That setting asks for care. As part of Iconic Hotels & Resorts, the hotel is committed to sensitive custodianship: supporting the local environment and economy, reducing impact where possible, and making responsible choices without taking away from the pleasure of a stay. Sustainability here is not a single gesture. It is the steady work of using less, wasting less, supporting people well, protecting the estate and improving the way the hotel operates over time.

Where Chewton Glen is performing strongly
Current insights
Chewton Glen’s strongest scores were in the Economic and Social themes, with positive performance also seen in Diversity and Inclusion. Social impact reflects measures that support people across the value chain, including policies to prevent and penalise harassment and bullying, engagement with local schools through apprenticeship schemes, and support for Wessex Cancer Trust. Economic impact considers fair and transparent operations, risk management, data safeguarding, workforce wellbeing and stakeholder value. Transparent annual reporting, Health and Safety policies and an Advisory Board with stakeholder representation all support this work. Diversity and Inclusion is treated as part of the business agenda, from recruitment and promotion to supplier selection and employee development. Policies are regularly reviewed, and succession planning considers diversity and inclusion within mentoring and development.
Giving back as part of the gathering

Corporate and conference clients can be encouraged to take part in local schemes that give something back to the community, from clean-up campaigns to school and community projects. It is a practical way to turn time together into something with a wider benefit.
