The Quintessentially English Coronation Celebration

6th May 2023

We welcome you to glorious Chewton Glen to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, on Saturday 6th May 2023. A day of tradition, pageantry and celebration, The King’s coronation will be the first for almost 70 years, following the remarkable reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Camilla, the Queen Consort, will also be crowned alongside the King.

The Coronation Celebration
in The Lake Suite

Head to our quintessentially English original country house for the ultimate coronation celebration – witness His Majesty King Charles’ coronation via a live stream while revelling in the convivial atmosphere of garden party style festivities.

You’ll be welcomed at 10:15am with tea, coffee and pastries, and then enjoy a typically British lunch, feasting on finely curated sharing-style platters and a glass of fizz to raise to the newly crowned King.

Surrounded by views of our beautifully landscaped grounds, we invite you to eat, drink, and be merry with us on May 6th. Book now to avoid disappointment – this will be one party you won’t want to miss!

The Coronation
Afternoon Tea

Between 5th to 14th May, our afternoon tea will proudly reflect the King’s coronation in our own inimitable Chewton Glen style. To celebrate His Majesty’s landmark day, our Executive Chef has produced a mouth-watering Coronation Afternoon Tea fit for a King; a delicious amuse bouche of warm Old Winchester and truffle will awaken your senses, followed by an array of delicate sandwiches and savoury bites readily refilled by impeccable silver service.

Savour warm scones crowned in rich clotted cream, jam and deliciously tart lemon curd, and round off with dainty sweet delicacies, alongside a fine selection of the wonderfully British Tregothnan teas. The royal icing on the cake? Take a slice of freshly made cake from the sweet trolley home to enjoy later.

Pair this medley of dainties with a patriotic glass of English sparkling Nyetimber, or decadently indulgent Laurent-Perrier Rosé Champagne, this is the perfect opportunity to raise a royal toast in style.
