Chef Stephen Bulmer has over 20 years’ experience at Michelin level restaurants throughout Europe, including several years as a senior chef de cuisine at Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. He is also widely acknowledged to be one the leading cookery school tutors in the UK, having been Chef Director of the Raymond Blanc Cookery School, Swinton Park Cookery School and his own school, Brook Hall in Buckinghamshire.
‘He is one of my most experienced chefs and a great craftsman – his enthusiasm is completely infectious’, commented Raymond Blanc.
Stephen was awarded the Best Tutor accolade at the 2014 Independent Cookery School Awards, demonstrating that his unique blend of top-level cookery skills and a gregarious personality are a winning combination.
Stephen rose to prominence early in his career, reaching the national finals of the Young Chef of the Year in 1992 and 1993 and the semi-finals of the Roux-brothers scholarship competition. Ever keen to broaden his knowledge, he has mastered new skills and styles of cooking throughout his career, cooking Italian cuisine at Zafferano, Thai cuisine at Nahm and Japanese cuisine at Nobu. He has also appeared on various TV programmes including Ready, Steady, Cook and Total Fishing.
Whilst his cooking has taken him all over the world, Stephen hails from Yorkshire and likes nothing better than cooking top quality, British produce and foraging for local, seasonal ingredients.
